I CRAVE MEAT VISION

Alvin Lustig (1915-1955)

Today in designers you’ve maybe not heard of but really should know about! Book Cover designer, Industial Designer, Textile Maker, Ad man, etc. Lustig is a man who could have easily designed for the contemporary world but was in the modern style for sure. He was hired by New Directions, where while on contract created some of the coolest book sleeves you’ll see, and he signed them all. Most designers put their name on the back, not Lustig, he signed his work right there on the front. He lived in California and New York, and eventually Israel where he died before getting his chance to impact the design of the new state at that time. Lustig purposefully avoided the clutter of design during his time and ended up creating book covers and furniture design with aesthetics that work in today’s design. His style and flare (in my opinion) is definitely comparable to Paul Rand and well he could be as popular as Rand if you guys just love him. Love him.
