Now, I know I’m an older fan but the first time I saw the Aquabats was back in 2011. It wa the feb show, but that wasn’t my favourite. Though, it is worth mentioning, they did have the duck duck goose game going on there and I was really sad to see that the last few shows I’ve gone to do not have the traditional Cadet Duck Duck Goose game I had heard about.
Although I LOVE VOODOO GLOW SKULLS and was one of the ten people who fucking knew who they were in the crowd and could sing along to their songs it was great. I got a bruise inbetween my tits at this show and I still couldn’t tell you why.
OH NO WAIT THAT WASN’T MY FAVOURITE ONE THOUGH.
I love a lot, I love the SDCC 2012 show because the overall vibe was amazing, the crowd was great, I got to kiss a dude that night, I got a million burgers, and started to really interact with other cadets at that show. Dec 2012 HOB Anaheim was great because of Kepi Ghoulie, but I didn’t really get to enjoy this show as much as the others I went to that year. The Free Irvine Show August 2012 was great because uh duh, they played a buuuunch of songs they didn’t normally play but that set
HOWEVER, my favourite show might be the Super Show Show in November of 2011. I went to this show for my birthday with my best friend, who came with me just cause he wanted to celebrate my birthday with me all cool like a cool friend. So that part was rad.
My Superhero got back together and was the opening band, so it was crazy hearing this ska band that hadn’t played in YEARS celebrate. It was rad once the Aquabats got on stage, I think the projector broke at one point, we got to rehear a bunch of songs so they could get crowd reactions and sometimes so they could like fun extra shots. They were like, “Ok guys, who wants to hear Eaglebones solo for a while.” AND WE WERE ALL LIKE YEEEAH.
AND THEN HE SHREDDED. And then when the episode came on I was like, “OOOOOOOOOH SHIT.” It was jjust fun seeing footage from that show on TV I think.
The Fox crowdsurfed at one point on the show and was running around. And we were all like “What’s up with this fox running around?” It was fun just trying to figure out. There was this great vibe in the crowd, even though some assholes then chanted “CAPTAIN HAMPTON” WHICH IS A TERRIBLE SONG FOR SHOWS.
But the Aquabats SUNG IT ANYWAYS. And they literally did not remember how it played and sort of just messed around with the song. They just really were having fun at this show. They were aware they would have to repeat a lot of stuff, they were aware they’d have to stay the same level of hype all fucking night and just, the crowd knew THEY had to as well.
So it was great.
And I highly enjoyed it. It was a great birthday present to myself and it’s just FUN when you get to reward yourself like that. uwu
